Introduction
During the honeycomb paper manufacturing process, uneven cutting and unstable tension are the two most common technical problems reported by customers. This will not only affect the forming effect of honeycomb paper, but also increase the proportion of waste, reduce production efficiency, and even damage the equipment in serious cases.
This article will combine the cases of our Turkish and Southeast Asian customers to summarize the reasons and solutions behind the common problems of honeycomb paper making machines, help you reduce downtime, and ensure the continuous and stable operation of the equipment.

Problem 1: Uneven cutting, uneven paper edges
Common phenomena:
*Uneven edges of paper output, "serrated";
*Large error in cut length;
*Paper scraps accumulate or tear at the blade.
Possible causes and solutions:
1. The cutter is worn or loose
*Check the sharpness of the blade every week.
*Replace the blade regularly, or use the original accessories recommended by the manufacturer.
*Tighten the blade clamp to avoid slight movement and deviation.
2. Unreasonable cutting parameter settings
*Adjust the "cutting delay time" on the touch screen;
*Use the recommended parameters of the automatic mode as a reference for the initial settings.
3. The paper itself is uneven or wet
*Make sure the paper roll is dry and pre-treated with the correct tension.
*Different papers should set cutting parameters separately to avoid "one size fits all".
Problem 2: Unstable tension causes wrinkles or breaks on the paper
Common phenomena:
*The unfolded paper deviates left and right or wrinkles.
*The paper breaks frequently.
*The paper output speed is fast and slow.
Possible causes and solutions:
1. The tension control of the unwinding shaft fails
*Check whether the tension controller is aging or slow to respond.
*It can be replaced with an automatic tension controller to improve sensitivity.
2. The paper roll is unevenly tight, or the axis is installed in an offset position
*When placing the paper, make sure that the bearings at both ends are completely fitted without shaking.
*Use the tension adjustment handle provided by the manufacturer for fine-tuning.
3. The sensor does not read the paper running status correctly
*Clean the dust on the sensor surface to avoid signal misjudgment.
*Recalibrate the tension sensor position to ensure accurate data.
Problem 3: The honeycomb structure deforms after unfolding and does not form a grid
Common phenomena:
*The unfolded honeycomb paper is irregular, and the edges are twisted.
*The grid shape is uneven, affecting the packaging appearance and protection.
Causes and countermeasures:
1. The embossing mold is worn or misaligned
* Check whether the mold has cracks or burrs;
* Replace the original embossing roller with the manufacturer's original one and adjust the position.
2. The thickness or ductility of the base paper does not meet the standard
* It is recommended to choose kraft paper with high elongation and uniform vertical and horizontal grain;
* Test the paper tension and extension parameters in advance.
3. The unfolding ratio is set incorrectly
* Adjust the unfolding angle and speed to match the paper performance;
* Use the device preset "standard unfolding mode" as a reference.
Problem 4: Large cutting length error, inconsistent paper roll size
Common phenomena:
*Different sizes of reeled paper rolls lead to inconsistent shipping specifications;
*The length is set to 1000mm, but the actual error is more than 20mm.
Countermeasures:
1. Check the synchronization between the servo motor and the length measuring wheel
* If there is a signal delay, the length measuring device position needs to be corrected.
* Check whether the motor encoder signal is transmitted correctly.
2. Reset the length unit and cutting frequency
* It is recommended to use the millimeter accuracy setting method.
* If the machine version supports it, turn on the "fine calibration mode".
3. Regularly calibrate the paper output speed and winding speed
* Too large a speed difference between the two will cause cutting errors;
* Set the "proportional compensation" parameter in the device settings.
Summary
As a high-frequency packaging equipment, the daily debugging, maintenance, and problem-solving capabilities of honeycomb paper making machines directly determine production efficiency and product yield.
In the face of common problems such as uneven cutting, unstable tension, unfolding deformation, and dimensional errors, as long as timely investigation and corresponding measures are taken, downtime and waste paper rate can be greatly reduced, allowing the equipment to operate stably for a long time.
Especially for users who have just introduced honeycomb paper making machines, they should develop good habits such as regular inspection, parameter backup, and use of original parts to avoid problems from the source and make your honeycomb paper project profitable and grow as soon as possible.
